Read the History page

History lists the changes ContactZapp made and the changes it was told about. The newest are first. You can roll back from here.

Steps

1. Tap History.
2. Read the list. Changes are grouped by day. Each day has a line such as "2 sync runs · 1 edit by you · 8 contacts changed".
3. Tap a row to open it. It shows What changed: for each field, Was and Now. A field with no value reads "Not set".
4. To find one contact, type its name in Search history by contact… and pick it.

How to read a row

• A row is a sentence, such as "You edited" followed by the contact's name, or "You deleted" followed by the name.
• Under it, a line says who made the change: "by you", "by auto-merge", or "by" followed by the account.
• A sync run is one row. It reads "Sync ·" followed by how many contacts changed. Tap it to see the contacts. Tap Show them for the rest.
• A roll back is one row too. It reads "Rollback ·" followed by how many contacts changed.
• A sync run that only found possible duplicates reads "Found" followed by a number and "possible duplicates — nothing changed. Review them in Review duplicates."
• A factory reset shows as "You ran a factory reset".

The list loads more as you scroll. At the end it reads "That's every change on record".

See one contact's changes

1. Tap Contacts. Open the contact.
2. Find Recent changes. Tap All history.

History opens for that contact only. It reads "Showing only what happened to this contact." Tap Show every contact to see everything again. Tap Back to followed by the contact's name to return to the contact.

Roll back from here

Tap a row. A bar appears at the bottom. It reads "Roll back to just before" followed by the time, and "This change and everything after it is undone." The buttons are:

• Roll back followed by the contact's name. See Roll back a contact.
• Roll back this run. See Roll back a sync run.
• Roll back everything.

Tap Cancel to close the bar without rolling back. A row that reads "Nothing to roll back" or "There is nothing before this" has nothing to go back to.

History keeps 12 months. To bring back a deleted contact, see Restore deleted contacts.

If something goes wrong

• "No changes yet. Changes appear here after ContactZapp's first sync." Nothing has changed yet. There is nothing to do.
• "We couldn't load your history. Try again in a moment." Reload the page.
• "We couldn't load more history. Try again in a moment." What you see stays on screen. Scroll again to load more.
• "We couldn't load this diff. Try again in a moment." Tap the row again.
• "No contacts match" followed by your search. Try the contact's name or a different part of it.
