Glossary
The words ContactZapp uses on screen, in plain language, with a link to the page that shows how.
These are the words ContactZapp uses on screen. Each entry says what the word means and, where there is a page for it, where to read the steps.
Auto-Merge
A setting that merges duplicates by itself after every sync, when we are confident enough. You choose how confident. The rest wait for you in Review duplicates. See Set the Auto-Merge level.
Deleted
The filter and the status for contacts you deleted. A deleted contact can be restored for 12 months. After that it can no longer be restored. See Restore deleted contacts.
Delete forever
Deletes a contact from Deleted permanently. It can't be restored. See Restore deleted contacts.
Don't merge
The choice that keeps two contacts apart. We stop suggesting them as duplicates. See Mark contacts as not duplicates.
Duplicates
Two or more contacts that look like the same person. See Review a duplicate.
Factory reset
Deletes everything ContactZapp holds for you and disconnects your accounts. Your Google, Microsoft, Apple and CardDAV accounts keep their contacts. See Factory reset.
Group
The set of duplicates we show together in Review duplicates. You merge the group, or choose Don't merge. See Review a duplicate.
Need review and Needs review
Need review is a filter in the Contacts list. It shows the duplicates and the contacts that need review. Needs review is the status on one contact. It means your accounts disagree about one of its values, and you choose which value to keep. See Why a contact needs review.
Read-only and Two-way
These are the two modes of an account. A Read-only account is read by ContactZapp, and changes made in ContactZapp are not sent to it. A Two-way account syncs both ways between ContactZapp and the account.
Reauthorize
Give ContactZapp access to an account again, after the access stopped working. ContactZapp skips the account until you do. See Reauthorize an account.
Roll back
Return a contact, a sync run or everything to how it was at an earlier moment. We show you the changes before you confirm. A roll back appears in History, so you can roll it back too. See Roll back a contact and Roll back a sync run.
Asked us to slow down
Google, Microsoft, Apple or your CardDAV server can ask ContactZapp to wait before it asks for more. The Sync log shows it as Slowed down. See Read the Sync log.
Suggested values
When you review duplicates, we suggest which value to keep for each field. You can use a suggestion or pick another. See Review a duplicate.
Undo a merge
Splits a merged contact back into the separate contacts. See Undo a merge.
