Roll back a sync run
Put every contact a sync run changed back to how it was just before that run, in one step.
Rolling back a sync run puts every contact that run changed back to how it was just before the run. It also undoes any later change to those contacts. You can't roll back a single field.
Steps
- Tap History.
- Find the sync run. Tap Roll this run back to here on its header. Or tap any row inside the run, then tap Roll back this run in the bar at the bottom.
- Read the message. It says every contact the run changed goes back to how it was at that time, including later changes to those contacts.
- Tap the button that starts "Roll this sync run back to". Or tap Cancel.
What happens next
The roll back runs in the background. A message above the list shows how many contacts are rolled back so far. You can close the message and leave the page. The roll back keeps going.
When it's done, History shows the roll back as a new entry, and it says how many contacts were rolled back. Your accounts are updated on the next sync.
You can undo a roll back. It shows up in History like any other change, so you can roll it back too.
Contacts the run merged are split again. To undo a single merge, see Undo a merge.
If something goes wrong
- "This sync run is still in progress, so nothing was rolled back. Try again when it finishes." Wait for the run to end. Then try again.
- "Starting the roll back. If a sync is running, it starts when the sync ends." Nothing to do. The roll back starts by itself.
- "Nothing was rolled back. That moment is older than the 12 months History keeps." Runs older than 12 months can't be rolled back.
- "We couldn't roll back your contacts. Try again in a moment." Tap the button again.
- "Your contacts are safe. The roll back stopped after N contacts, at one it couldn't change. Roll back again to finish." Roll back the run again. It finishes the rest.
- You only want one contact back. See Roll back a contact.
