Reauthorize an account

Give ContactZapp access again when an account shows Reauthorize.

An account shows Reauthorize when ContactZapp no longer has the access it needs. ContactZapp skips that account until you reauthorize it.

Steps

For a Google or Microsoft account:

  1. Open your account menu and tap Settings. Then tap Accounts.
  2. Tap the settings icon of the account that shows Reauthorize.
  3. Under Connection, tap Reauthorize.
  4. Follow the sign-in page. For Google, tick the box that allows access to your contacts. If the page offers editing, allow it.

For an iCloud or CardDAV account:

  1. In Settings › Accounts, tap the account's settings icon.
  2. Enter the new password. For iCloud this is an app-specific password.
  3. Tap Test & save credentials.

What happens next

For an iCloud or CardDAV account, "Connected — we can reach your account." means the new password works.

The account stops showing Reauthorize once access is back.

If something goes wrong

  • The warning stays. Remove ContactZapp from your account's permissions page. For Google the page is Google account permissions. Then link the account again.
  • "This connection can only read." You didn't allow editing. Reauthorize and allow it. Or set the account to read-only if you'd rather we didn't write.
  • "This connection can't read your contacts." Reauthorize and allow contacts access.
  • "Saved, but the server didn't accept these credentials." Check them and test again.
  • "ContactZapp can't read this account. Unlink it, then link it again." Open the account and tap Unlink this account. Then add it again.
  • The account is paused. A paused account needs Resume this account, not Reauthorize.
