Manage or cancel your subscription
Open the billing portal to cancel, move to a smaller plan, or see invoices and your card.
You cancel or move to a smaller plan in the billing portal, not in ContactZapp. Settings › Plan & billing takes you there. The portal is also where you see invoices, change your card and change your billing address.
Steps
- Open your account menu and tap Settings. Then tap Plan & billing.
- Under Billing, tap Open billing portal. (Manage billing in the Your plan card at the top does the same.)
- The portal opens in a new tab, signed in as your billing email.
- Cancel your plan there, or make the other change you came for.
What happens next
- You keep your plan until the paid period ends. Plan & billing then shows "Cancelled — access until" and the date. The plan cards for smaller plans say "Downgrade by cancelling in the billing portal" and the date you keep your plan until.
- Then you move to the free plan. If you have more accounts or contacts than it covers, we pause the extra accounts and stop syncing the extra contacts. Nothing is deleted from your accounts. See See your plan and what you use. The linked answer covers what happens to your data.
- ContactZapp has no downgrade button. A smaller plan only offers the line above, never a button.
- To go back to a bigger plan later, see Upgrade your plan.
If something goes wrong
- "We couldn't open your billing portal. Try again in a moment." Nothing about your subscription has changed. Tap the button again.
- You can't find the button. Until you pay for a plan, Billing says "Nothing to manage yet — you haven't paid for anything." and has no portal button.
- If you contact support, include your user ID. It's under Billing, beside Billed to.
- Factory reset doesn't cancel your subscription. Your subscription keeps running. To stop paying, cancel in the billing portal first. See Factory reset.
- You changed your billing email in the portal. See the notice under Billing in Plan & billing. It tells you if a link is waiting for you to confirm.

How do I cancel my subscription, and what happens to my data?
To cancel, go to Settings › Plan & billing and choose Open billing portal. The portal opens in a new tab. Cancel your plan there, and you keep your plan until the date your paid period ends. Settings › Plan & billing then shows "Cancelled — access until" and that date. Nothing is cancelled from inside ContactZapp itself.
Your contacts are safe. When the plan ends, you move to the free plan. If you have more accounts or contacts than the free plan covers, we pause the extra accounts and stop syncing the extra contacts. Their contacts stay as they are in Google, Microsoft, Apple and your CardDAV server, and nothing is deleted.
Factory reset (Settings › Advanced) deletes your data from ContactZapp and signs you out, but it doesn't cancel your subscription. It keeps running until you cancel it in the billing portal, so cancel there first if you want to stop paying.
What happens when I reach my plan's limit or downgrade?
Your plan sets how many accounts you can connect and how many contacts ContactZapp keeps in sync. You can see both numbers, and what you use, in Settings › Plan & billing.
Contact limit. Contacts over the limit are marked Frozen. The first contacts you added keep syncing. Frozen contacts stay as they are in each of your accounts. They are not copied across and nothing is deleted. You can still view, edit and merge them in ContactZapp, but the changes are not sent to your accounts.
Account limit. At the limit, you can't connect another account. If you move to a smaller plan, we pause the accounts that no longer fit, starting with the ones you connected last. A paused account doesn't sync and keeps its contacts. We disconnect it after 30 days, and we email you before that.
When you move to a bigger plan, paused accounts that fit start syncing again and frozen contacts sync from the next run. Nothing is deleted from Google, Microsoft, Apple or your CardDAV server.
