See your plan and what you use
Check your plan, how many accounts and contacts it covers, and what happens when you go over.
Settings › Plan & billing shows which plan you're on, how many accounts and contacts it covers, and how much of that you use. Nothing changes when you look.
Steps
- Open your account menu and tap Settings.
- Tap Plan & billing.
- Read the Your plan card at the top.
What the Your plan card shows
- The plan. Its name, and a line saying when it renews. A plan you've cancelled reads "Cancelled — access until" and a date. A free plan reads "No card on file · nothing renews".
- Connected accounts. How many accounts you've linked, against how many your plan allows. A paused account still counts.
- Contacts kept in sync. How many contacts ContactZapp keeps in sync, against your plan's limit.
We don't list the numbers here, because they come from your plan. The card and the Change plan cards below it show the live figures for every plan. See Upgrade your plan.
Each bar has three states. It's normal under the limit, amber at the limit and red past it.
If you go over your plan
Your contacts are safe. We never delete anything from Google, Microsoft, Apple or your CardDAV server.
- Too many accounts. This happens after a move to a smaller plan. We pause the accounts that no longer fit. A paused account doesn't sync, and its contacts stay as they are. You can't connect another account while you're at the limit. The card names the paused accounts and offers Upgrade to a plan that fits, and Manage accounts. See Pause or resume an account.
- Too many contacts. The contacts over the limit show Frozen (plan limit). They stay as they are in each account but aren't copied across. The first contacts you added keep syncing.
Upgrading, or unlinking an account, restarts paused accounts at the next sync. See the linked answers for what happens at the limit and after a downgrade, and why Synced can show fewer contacts than your limit.
If something goes wrong
- The card says it couldn't load your plan. The message is "We couldn't load your plan. Try again in a moment." Reload the page.
- You see "You have more than one subscription. You get the highest plan." You hold more than one subscription. Nothing to do: you get the highest plan.

What happens when I reach my plan's limit or downgrade?
Your plan sets how many accounts you can connect and how many contacts ContactZapp keeps in sync. You can see both numbers, and what you use, in Settings › Plan & billing.
Contact limit. Contacts over the limit are marked Frozen. The first contacts you added keep syncing. Frozen contacts stay as they are in each of your accounts. They are not copied across and nothing is deleted. You can still view, edit and merge them in ContactZapp, but the changes are not sent to your accounts.
Account limit. At the limit, you can't connect another account. If you move to a smaller plan, we pause the accounts that no longer fit, starting with the ones you connected last. A paused account doesn't sync and keeps its contacts. We disconnect it after 30 days, and we email you before that.
When you move to a bigger plan, paused accounts that fit start syncing again and frozen contacts sync from the next run. Nothing is deleted from Google, Microsoft, Apple or your CardDAV server.
On the free plan, why does Synced show fewer contacts than the plan limit (for example 87, not 100)?
Synced only counts contacts that are done: inside your plan's limit and with nothing waiting on you. A contact inside the limit isn't counted as Synced if it needs your attention. A possible duplicate, or a contact with values that need your decision, shows under Need review until you resolve it. After that it moves to Synced. A contact also shows as Updating or Not synced for a short time while a change is still going out. That usually clears on its own.
Contacts past your plan's limit show as Frozen. A frozen contact that also needs review is counted in both Frozen and Need review, so the numbers can add up to more than your total. The plan card in Settings › Plan & billing shows the contacts that sync out of your plan's limit, with a note that says how many contacts your address book holds.
