Pause or resume an account

Stop syncing one account for now without unlinking it, then pick it up again later.

Pausing stops ContactZapp syncing one account without unlinking it. You can resume any time.

Steps

To pause:

  1. Open your account menu and tap Settings. Then tap Accounts.
  2. Tap the settings icon of the account.
  3. Under Pause, tap Pause this account.

To resume:

  1. In Settings › Accounts, tap the settings icon of the paused account.
  2. Tap Resume this account.

What happens next

The account shows Paused. It doesn't sync until you resume it. A paused account is skipped in the Sync log: "You paused this account. It doesn't sync until you resume it."

A paused account is disconnected after 30 days, and we email you 3 days before. The account row shows "Will be disconnected on" and the date. Changes waiting for it are dropped then. See the linked answer for the difference between pausing, unlinking and read-only.

If something goes wrong

  • The account says "Paused · over plan limit". Your plan doesn't cover it. Upgrade, or unlink another account. Open Settings › Plan & billing to see your options. It restarts at the next sync.
  • You can't resume. The message says how many synced accounts your plan allows. Pause or unlink another account, or upgrade.
  • Only unlink is offered. A paused account offers Unlink, not Reconnect.

What's the difference between pausing an account, unlinking it, and setting it to read-only?

Read-only means we read that address book and never change it. Open the account in Settings › Accounts and choose Read-only under Sync direction.

Pause stops us from reading and writing that account for now. We keep the connection and its history, and Resume this account picks up where it stopped. We disconnect an account that stays paused for 30 days, and we email you 3 days before. Changes waiting for it are dropped at that point.

Unlink disconnects the account. Nothing is deleted in the account itself. You can link it again later. Contacts that also exist in your other accounts stay in ContactZapp. Contacts that came only from that account are hidden until you link it again.
