Add another account

Connect a second or further Google, Microsoft, iCloud or CardDAV account from Settings.

You can connect more than one account. With a second account, ContactZapp can find the same contact in both and clean up duplicates. It also keeps your two-way accounts holding the same contacts. How many accounts you can add depends on your plan.

Before you start

Connect your first account first. See Connect your first account.

Steps

  1. Open your account menu and tap Settings. Then tap Accounts.
  2. Tap Add an account.
  3. Pick Google, Microsoft, iCloud or Other (CardDAV).
  4. Follow the steps for that account. They are the same as for your first account: see Connect your first account. For Google, tap Continue to Google when the card Tick the contacts box when Google asks appears, then tick the box that allows access to your contacts.
  5. When the message "is connected" appears, tap Done.
  6. If an iCloud or CardDAV account has more than one address book, you choose one first: Which address book should sync? Choose it, then tap Done.

What happens next

ContactZapp reads the new account once, right away, whatever your sync schedule says. Later syncs follow your schedule. See Change how often ContactZapp checks.

Contacts are copied between your two-way accounts. Once you have started syncing, a contact that is only in one two-way account is added to the others, and duplicates between accounts are merged by your Auto-Merge level. That includes the new account: ContactZapp queues the contacts it doesn't hold yet. Before you start syncing, ContactZapp only reads. See Start your first sync.

If you don't want ContactZapp to add anything to the new account, set it to read-only before you start syncing. See Set an account to read-only.

A new account is two-way and includes all its contacts: "Changes sync both ways and all its contacts are included." You can change either in Settings.

An iCloud or CardDAV account syncs one address book. You can't sync two address books from the same account.

A Google or Microsoft account you link is added to Sign-in identities in Settings › Accounts. You can sign in with any of them while they stay linked.

If something goes wrong

  • "You've reached the number of accounts your plan allows." Open Settings › Plan & billing to see your options. See See your plan and limits. You can also unlink an account you no longer need.
  • Google comes back without contacts access. Add the account again, and tick the box that allows access to your contacts.
  • "We couldn't connect with those credentials." Check the server address, username and password. Then try again.
  • "We connected, but couldn't find an address book at that server." Check the server address and try again.
  • "Too many attempts. Try again in a minute." Wait a minute, then try again.
  • The new account shows Reauthorize. See Reauthorize an account.

How do I add a second address book?

Do you mean another account or another address book? Here are both.

To add another account: open Settings, choose Accounts, then choose Add an account. Pick Google, Microsoft, iCloud or Other (CardDAV). Google and Microsoft ask you to sign in. CardDAV asks for the server URL, your username and your password. The server address must be the web address only. If it includes your username or password, we ask you to take them out and enter them in their own fields. iCloud asks for your Apple Account email and an app-specific password. New accounts sync both ways. How many accounts you can add depends on your plan.

To sync a different address book from an iCloud or CardDAV account: ContactZapp syncs 1 address book from each account. To change which one, open that account in Settings › Accounts and choose Change address book. Contacts from the old book stay in ContactZapp and in your account, but stop updating. We can't sync 2 address books from the same account.
