Zapier

Add a contact from a Zap, and start a Zap when a contact is created, with Webhooks by Zapier.

Set up the key

In ContactZapp, create an API key with both scopes. See Getting started. Zapier sends the key in a header of each Webhooks step, so you paste it into the step.

Add a contact from a Zap

  1. Choose any trigger, such as a new row in Google Sheets or a new form entry.
  2. Add the action Webhooks by Zapier, Custom Request, and set it like this:
    SettingValue
    MethodPOST
    URLhttps://app.contactz.app/api/v1/contacts
    Data Pass-Through?No
    DataThe JSON below, with fields from your trigger
    UnflattenNo
    HeadersAuthorization | Bearer cz_live_… (your key)
    Content-Type | application/json
    Idempotency-Key | a value that is yours for this one trigger, such as the row id
    Data
    {
      "firstName": "Ada",
      "lastName": "Lovelace",
      "emails": [{ "label": "work", "value": "[email protected]" }]
    }
    Replace the values with fields from your trigger.
  3. The answer has an outcome: created, merged or needs_review. Use it in the next steps of the Zap.

Start a Zap when a contact is created

Use the trigger Webhooks by Zapier, Retrieve Poll. Zapier polls the URL and starts the Zap for each event it has not seen, using the event’s id to tell them apart.

SettingValue
URLhttps://app.contactz.app/api/v1/triggers/contact.created
Query stringlimit | 50
HeadersAuthorization | Bearer cz_live_… (your key)

Test the trigger in Zapier: it should list the newest contacts. Each event has an id, the occurredAt time and the contact with its fields. To start on another event, change contact.created in the URL to one of the trigger events.

Zapier checks for new events on its own schedule, which depends on your Zapier plan. See Rate limits if you poll several triggers.
